Asbestos Remediation

Asbestos is banned, but remains of it still show up on existing buildings. Indevcon inspects, samples and oversees the abatement.

Banned, and still in the building

Asbestos is banned from use because of its toxicity, yet you still see remains of it on many existing buildings. Indevcon works on those buildings across DeKalb and Northern Illinois, and the list of where it turns up is further down this page.

The first call is free to make. Glenn at (815) 758-6896 can tell you whether what you have is a question for an inspection, a sample, or a full plan.

Inspect and sample before anyone cuts anything

The work begins with inspections and surveys, then sampling. Samples answer the question a visual guess cannot: what a given tile, wrap or shingle is actually made of.

Indevcon also runs X-ray fluorescence (XRF) surveys, AHERA inspections and management plans, and lead inspections and risk assessments. In a building old enough to have asbestos materials, it is common to want asbestos and lead looked at in the same visit.

Specifications, bid review and oversight of the abatement

Once you know what is there, Indevcon prepares the plans and specifications for the abatement, then evaluates the bids and recommends one. Writing the scope first means every contractor prices the same job.

During the work, Indevcon provides abatement project monitoring and oversight. Where material stays in place, an operation and maintenance plan sets out how to live and work around it. The firm's stated promise is to perform its services in a prompt and timely manner.
